If you didn’t know, I love to give back. I am an affiliated photographer with 10 different charitable organizations, including Littlest Heroes Project, Operation: Love ReUnited, Celebrating Adoption, NILMDTS and several more. There’s something amazing about doing a photoshoot for someone who has beaten obstacles, and/or are truly, truly greatful for what you are doing for them.
So I decided to hold a “Spring Contest” — I asked my Facebook Fans to submit nominations of families or couples who deserve a free photoshoot. They could be struggling financially, medically, or just deserve the photoshoot for being good citizens. Didn’t matter to me! I just wanted to give back to someone who needs it.
First, the rules:
–Cannot nominate yourself
–Must live in Cincinnati or be able to travel to Cincinnati for the shoot sometime before August 2010.
–Whoever wins will kindly tell all of their friends about KacyPhoto.com :]
–Voting will be from May 18th to May 25th, 2010.
–You can only vote once per IP address, but feel free to spread the word to your family/friends to vote for your favorite family.
–I won’t be voting. I’ll leave it up to the fans/clients!
**Please read each family’s story before voting.
I have changed names to keep this contest anonymous. Each family now has a flower last name, so make sure to vote for the RIGHT family!
And now… here are the contestants:
ASTER FAMILY
The Aster’s are a young couple with two daughters. Both parents are full-time college students, and dad works at a restaurant to make ends meet. Mom had open heart surgery as a child and has some health issues now. Because they’re trying to make a better life for their family, and going to school, they are struggling financially and have never had professional photos.
LILAC FAMILY
The Lilac’s are very generous and giving people. Dad works full-time AND goes to school full-time. They have two little kids, and mom stays at home. She always offers to care for others children if they are in a bind. They are really generous and put others first.
ORCHID FAMILY
The Orchid’s are incredibly nice and caring people. They struggled with infertility for years before giving up… however once they stopped trying, they got pregnant on their own with a little girl. And very soon after they were pregnant with twins! Mom has a few health issues with caused her to be on bedrest during her pregnancies, but she still smiled because she was extremely greatful. Now they have their hands full, but they are happy as can be.
POSIE FAMILY
The Posie’s are a young couple with a little girl. Due to the economy they have struggled financially and recently moved into mom’s parents house. Mom’s hours at her job has recently been cut, causing dad to have to work a lot of overtime to keep up. Mom has been going through a lot of unexplained health issues, and recently they lost health insurance, so now they have to deal with medical bills. They are a very loving couple who just need a break.
So there you have it… FOUR deserving families! Which one do YOU think should win? Vote below!
**VOTING ENDS MAY 25, 2010**
One of my 2009 wedding couples is having a baby! Chasidy & Clay were married last June, and their baby boy is due in just a few weeks! They’re my “rockstar couple” and so much fun to work with. They pretty much let me do whatever I want, and they have amazing chemistry so the photos turn out phenomenal.
Take a peak ![]()

Ashley is another one of my 2011 Senior Reps! She goes to Finneytown High School and is a BLAST to work with! We weren’t sure where to do photos so we took a little drive and ended up finding a really awesome railroad yard, with a rusting old truck. It was perfect for Ashley’s personality!

Through the powers of Facebook I have gotten nearly 600 fans on my fan page! I have been giving away a couple mini-sessions here and there for contests held on my fan page. The first winner was Chandra! Turns out she is best friends with my step-cousin… who knew?!
Chandra, her husband and son met me in my neighborhood for a quick (yet awesome) photoshoot! Hayden just turned two, so it was perfect timing for photos! I loved their outfits also– but I will admit, if she would have asked my opinion on all three wearing plaid I would have probably said “please don’t” but it turned out very cute! Glad she didn’t ask
Here’s the result from our shoot on a beautiful Saturday.

and one last one… poor guy! Picture taking is hard work!
